Caregivers care for all kinds of patients. Many are pleasant and enjoyable to care for. But, there are some who aren’t so pleasant and caring for them isn’t always enjoyable. The poem “My Service,” came out of my experience as a caregiver for a family member. If like me, you have been a caregiver to someone who was or is difficult to deal with, caused you grief, and/or drained you emotionally, you will understand this poem. When I dealt with it on my own without seeking God, I could only take so much. Being a caregiver can be challenging. But remembering that our service is first and foremost done as to the Lord (Colossians 3:23-24) will help us keep the right attitude.
