A friend gave me this pillow and I love the saying on it. It reminds me that I don’t have to pretend to be something I’m not with a friend. But there is only one friend that, that is totally true with, and that friend is Jesus. Jesus knows all about me and He still likes and loves me.
The Lord Knows
The Lord knows my sins and He has forgiven them.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16-17) KJV
The Lord knows everything about me. He knows everything I’ve done, said, and thought and He still loves me. I’m still forgiven, cleansed, and saved. A place has been reserved for me in Heaven.
I didn’t do anything to deserve this. It can’t be earned. All I did was get down on my knees and accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Forgiveness and salvation are based on God’s grace and mercy.
For some people (Christian and non-Christian alike) the unconditional love that God offers because of and through Jesus Christ is hard to accept. They can’t forgive themselves so they can’t believe that God can forgive them, much less love them. They know they are unworthy. Guess what? We all are. What they forget is that God sees us through Jesus. He sees us through the red from the blood Jesus shed on the cross for us and from the white robes Jesus now wears.
Jesus’ Gift
To doubt the love Jesus has for us and our worth to Him is a rejection of His gift to us – his suffering, torture, and death on the cross. It’s like telling Jesus He went through all of that for nothing. If Jesus is trying to give you this gift and you turn Him away because you don’t believe you deserve it, how sad the hurt for you and Jesus.
Take the gift. Make the decision to accept what Jesus offers. Tell yourself, as often as you have to that Jesus loves you. Admit that you don’t deserve it. It wouldn’t be a gift if you did. Every time you find yourself doubting again, rebuke Satan, admit you don’t deserve it, and thank Jesus for the gift – the wonderful gift of mercy, grace, forgiveness, and salvation.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1John 1:9) KJV
