Pleading with God to take me instead is probably a prayer many people have prayer when faced with the death of a spouse or child. Every parent or spouse can probably relate to the pain of losing their spouse or child, even if they have never experienced it. I bet we would all cry out to God pleading, “Take Me Instead.”
Stroking my husband’s head and kissing his brow as he lay dying, I would have given anything to take his place.
When the doctor told me my son had less than two years to live without a transplant, I would have given any organ I could to my son, and I would have given anything to take his place.
Praying for our granddaughter as she lay dying, we would have given anything to take her place.
